## What the capstone is

The capstone is an open-ended distributed systems project. It is evaluated through multiple milestones so that no single submission dominates the grade.

## Teams and deliverables

  * **Teams:** up to 5 students.
  * **Deliverables:** both a group report and an individual report.
  * **Evidence:** signed git history + AI log + reproducible artifacts.
  * **Oral exam hooks:** keep a compact index of your reasoning in `oral-exam-hooks/hooks.md` (used if selected for an oral exam).
  * **Course GitHub organization:** <https://github.students.cs.ubc.ca/CPSC416-2025W-T2>

## Early exploration

The capstone work starts early with low-stakes exploration activities (historically “weekly reports”) so students build momentum before the heavy milestones.

## Domains

See [Capstone domains](/teaching/cpsc-416-winter-2025-term-2/capstone-domains/) for suggested directions and the nomination process.

## Milestones

See Capstone milestones for the milestone-based structure and deliverables (draft).
